  Workshop on Rights of Muslim Women: Theory and Practice

15TH-17TH APRIL, 2011

Venue:-  Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad

The Centre for Study of Society and Secularism jointly with Institute of Islamic studies has organized a 3 day workshop in Allahabad from 15th-17th April, 2011 on Rights of Muslim Women: Theory and Practice. There were 50 women and men from six states of Eastern U.P like Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Banaras, Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Allahabad. The participants were from NGO’s working among Muslim Women, teachers and individuals.

Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer gave four lectures continuously followed by two lectures by Ms.Qutub Jahan Kidwai, Research Scholars Institute of Islamic Studies, Mumbai and one lecture on legal aspect by former Advocate General of Allahabad High Court and one session was devoted to panel discussion on Codification of Muslim Personal Law in India. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Arif of Banaras.
