ORGANISED A 3 DAY
YOUTH WORKSHOP ON PEACE AND COMMUNAL HARMONY AT MADURAI
FROM 14TH-16TH
MARCH, 2011
Nearly 45 students and few NGOs workers participated in
the 3 day workshop. The participants were selected from
all over India. They held from Banaras Hindu
University,
Delhi, Gandhigram Rural University, Fatima College,
Madurai, Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Youth Development,
Sriperumbedur all send their representatives to
participate in 3 days workshop.
The purpose of this workshop was to sensitize create
awareness of the communal harmony and peace and also to
teach them the methods of conflict transformation.
The interesting feature of the 3 day workshop was the
prominent High Court Judges like Hon.ble N. Kirubhakaran,
Judge Madras High Court (Madras Bench) Hon.ble Justice
G.M.Akbar Ali and valedictory address was delivered by
Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.S.Ramanathan. All the three judges
spoke on Secularism which is the bedrock of the
constitution in recognizing the rights of others and
respecting their sentiments.
The
judges emphasized on the qualities of tolerance should
be preserved and the great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi
should be followed.
In spite of the country facing the communal riots time
and again and the country has been the verse of division
on the basis of religion and thought of Hindu Raj was
never advocated by the ancestor leaders. Communal
disharmony is growing and suspicion and hatred are
increasing and it is very important role as the
torchbearer of the country future.
The topics like non-violence and role of Mahatma Gandhi
and his principals of non-violence, and role of police
in civil society, medieval history, myths about Islam
and
Panchayat
politics and Ayodhya issues were some of the important
topics that were taught to students.
The New 15 Point Programme of Prime Minister which is
meant for the minorities was also taught to students.
In all there were 14 resource persons for the 3 day
workshop. There was a good coverage also by the Hindu of
the Program.
The feedback of the program was that such awareness and
sensitizing programs are very essential for the youth to
create awareness of the present scenario of the country.
